Psalm 2 is often seen as a messianic psalm, which means it refers to the coming of the Messiah and His kingdom. Verses 7 and 8 in particular highlight two major themes:Psalm 2:7-8 7. "I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.8. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession."1. **Divine Sonship**: Verse 7, "Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee," refers to the special relationship between God and the Messiah. In the New Testament, this verse is quoted several times in reference to Jesus Christ (such as in Acts 13:33 and Hebrews 1:5), affirming His identity as the Son of God.2. **Universal Sovereignty**: Verse 8, "Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession," speaks of the extent of the Messiah's rule. "Heathen" here refers to the nations of the world, suggesting that the Messiah's reign will extend beyond Israel to include all nations and territories. This verse is understood as God’s promise to grant the Messiah authority over the entire earth.The broader context of Psalm 2 challenges earthly rulers and kingdoms, declaring that their power is ultimately subordinate to God’s appointed King. This psalm reassures believers of God's ultimate control and the assured victory of His anointed over worldly powers. It's both a prophecy and a promise of God's plan for universal and eternal kingship through His Son.

Exodus 34:6-7, where God reveals Himself to Moses: "The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, 'The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.'" Read this passage again. The verses highlight God's attributes of mercy, grace, and forgiveness, as well as His justice.

In the book of Exodus 33:19, where God says to Moses, "And he said, '💕💕💕💕‘ I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name 'The Lord'; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.'" 💕💕💕💕💕This statement emphasizes God's sovereignty in dispensing grace and mercy on people He selects.
